KLANG:1 | QUICK START

Thank you for choosing your KLANG product. This guide will get you started in no time with KLANG:1 and KLANG:1pro.

Power & USB-C

KLANG:1 has two USB-C ports:

  • DATA/PWR – for data/power supply or power delivery depending on connected device
  • PWR INPUT

Use-cases:

  1. Power Only: Connect a USB-C power supply to the PWR INPUT port. Connect a CAT5 network cable to the RJ45 ethernet port.
  2. Power Thru: Will charge tablet/smartphone. Connect a USB-C power supply to the PWR INPUT port. Connect tablet/smartphone to DATA/PWR. Once KLANG:1 is fully booted, power delivery (up to 15 W) for charging will be enabled.
  3. Tablet/smartphone with Power. Connect tablet/smartphone to DATA/PWR.
  4. Redundancy: Connect a USB-C power supply to the PWR INPUT port and one to the DATA/PWR port. The DATA/PWR has priority, if this is disconnected, power will be provided by the supply connected to PWR INPUT. Once DATA/PWR is connected to power again, this will take over.

Control via KLANG:app

KLANG:1 can be controlled via DATA/PWR or the NET ethernet port.

USB-C Control

  1. Connect your smartphone/tablet/computer to the DATA/PWR USB-C port. KLANG:1 will communicate over USB as a network interface
  2. Start KLANG:app on your device. KLANG:app will immediately connect to KLANG:1 if KLANG:app is not actively connected to another device.
  3. From here start mixing or configure your KLANG:1 further.

NET Ethernet Control

As with all KLANG processors by default DHCP is enabled and they will fall back to Link-Local addresses. Double click the reset button to revert to default DHCP mode. The status LED will indicate the type of IP address and the audio clock status.

KLANG:1 has a CONTROL network port. KLANG:1pro has a CONTROL/Dante Pri (Primary) and a CONTROL/Dante Sec (Secondary) port.

  1. Connect your computer, DiGiCo console or network switch to CONTROL or CONTROL/Dante Pri
  2. If you need to configure a fixed IP address e.g. for the DiGiCo Console Integration, quickly triple click the reset button for the default fixed IP address 192.168.1.200/16
  3. Open KLANG:app and connect to KLANG:1 for CONFIG > CONNECT

The IP address and connection status can be monitored via the Status LED and reset via the RESET button. (See section below)

Control via USB-C and Ethernet can work alongside each other.
Devices connected to the CONTROL network port cannot communicate through the USB

Control from DiGiCo Console Integration

  1. Connect your DiGiCo console directly to CONTROL or (if preferred, via a network switch) to CONTROL/Dante Sec
  2. If you need to configure a fixed IP address for the DiGiCo Console Integration, quickly triple click the reset button for the default fixed IP address 192.168.1.200/16. This default IP will only be configured on CONTROL/Dante Sec. The fixed IP Address can also be configured from a connected KLANG:app in KLANG:app > CONFIG > INFO > Set Menu > Set fixed IP
  3. Proceed to setup the console integration on the console

MADI Audio Connection

  1. Connect your console to the MADI ports
  2. Setup your console MADI stream to either 48kHz or 96kHz HiSpeed
  3. For KLANG:1pro Only: Go to KLANG:app > CONFIG > ROUTING and select routing and clock sync source accordingly.
The MADI LED will indicate the connection status.

Dante Audio Connection

– KLANG:1pro ONLY –

  1. Connect your Dante network to CONTROL/Dante Pri
  2. Go to KLANG:app > CONFIG > ROUTING and select Dante in the Wizard. This will route Dante to 3Diem and back to Dante and select Dante as the clock source and set the Samplerate mode to AUTO.
  3. KLANG:app > CONFIG > Dante to patch the inputs and outputs to your console. Alternatively, use Open Dante Controller.

Status LED & Reset Button

This guide explains what the LED colors mean on a KLANG processor without a display. It helps users understand the network status, connection state, and audio clock validity — even before connecting a KLANG:app.

LED States

These LED states are shown immediately after boot, and if no KLANG:app or console is connected. They are also shown when the connection is timed out, i.e. no active connection to this device has been present for quite some time.
Once connected, the LED becomes solid purple, or it blinks purple/red when the audio sync is not valid.
Diagnostic Mode | Blinking LED StateMeaningNotes
Half-Dim PurpleIP assigned via DHCPDHCP server provided a valid IP
BlueUsing link-local Auto-IPs: 169.254.x.x/16No DHCP, auto-assigned fallback IP
OrangeUsing a user defined Fixed IPManual IP set via KLANG:app or console, other than 192.168.1.200
WhiteUsing Default KOS IP192.168.1.200/16Default fixed IP that works well with default DiGiCo console IP addresses
Pulsing PurpleWaiting for :app/:kontroller/console to connect…Will overlay one of the above colors as base status
Button presses are acknowledged by a yellow LED blink for each button press after the detection of the button press sequence.

Once a KLANG:app or console connects, the LED indicates connection and audio clock status:

Connected LED StateMeaning
Solid Purple✅ Connected to at least one :app, :kontroller or console
Blinking Purple/Red⚠️ Audio clock is invalid (e.g., no sync)
The LED will always default to diagnostic mode after, as long as no app is connected. For network troubleshooting, power cycle the unit and observe the LED before connecting.
