MIDI MCU with A&H dLive / GLD

Step 1 – Setup TCP MIDI Tools on Computer
A&H dLive and GLD offer MIDI support over Ethernet. You need to install two different tools on your computer running KLANG:app with MCU MIDI remote.
TCP MIDI Driver
This tool has to be installed and will convert incoming network messages from the control surface to MIDI messages on the computer. It will announce a MIDI device on the computer. Enter the IP address of the control surface and click Connect.
DAW Control – Mackie Control Universal
The second tool required is AH DAW Control. It will translate incoming network messages from the control surface to MIDI Mackie Control Universal messages. In order to get 32 channel faders 4 MCU MIDI interfaces are announce, each containing 8 channels. Please note, that this DAW Control tool does not offer Bank select commands.
Choose your Mixer. Please note, that GLD will also work for dLive. Choose MIDI Channel: 2 and Protocol: Mackie Control. Enter the IP address and click Connect.
Step 2 – Configure KLANG:app
In the MIDI config section you will see 5 devices. One AH TCP MIDI device and 4 DAW Control MIDI MCU devices.
Select a template, rename it and select that MIDI preset for all 5 devices as shown below.
Step 3 – Configure MIDI Commands on Console
Channel fader, user switch, mute/solo will work through DAW Control MCU tool right away. The MIDI transport section is associated with Snapshot control by default.
In order to use the Soft Keys, select Function: Custom MIDI and enter the MIDI command as HEX values unter Press.
In the video example we used the following commands for snapshot control.
- Prev Snapshot: F0 7F 02 06 05 7F (this command will be converted into the corresponding MCU transport command by AH DAW Control)
- Next Snapshot: F0 7F 02 06 04 7F (this command will be converted into the corresponding MCU transport command by AH DAW Control)
- Recall Snapshot: 90 5E 7F
- Take Snapshot: 90 5F 7F
- STAGE 1 view (Orbit): 90 29 7F
- STAGE 2 view (Landscape): 90 3F 7F
- FADERS 1 view (Faders): 90 2A 7F
- FADERS 2 view (Groups): 90 40 7F
Channel names via MIDI MCU are not supported currently by dLive. But the MIDI channels can be labelled in the control surface for better readability.
